Content, content, content!

Perhaps you’ve heard that “content is king” online, but do you believe it?

You should, especially if you’re in a competitive industry.

In How Can 10 Simple Articles Change Your Life? — Pearsonified Chris Pearson talks about how content equals equity in your site and equity in your business, and says that when someone wants to compete with you, they can and will compete on technology, but:

“But they’d have one hell of a time trying to compete with his content.

If he had 100 articles and they had none, it would be a joke. The bottom line is that in any topic, whoever controls the information flow around that subject holds all the power.”

So get some content onto your site.

If you’re building a new site, and are spending months organizing your site’s look and feel, ask yourself: who cares? No one comes to your site to admire the design and layout except your friends and family. The rest of the world visits your site for a reason – to buy.

Great content will not only draw traffic, it will convert your traffic into sales. Focus on content first, and keep focusing on it – build your equity in your site and in your business.

No links? Get content first

Your site is your home on the Web; it’s (possibly) also making money for you. Whatever… Your site deserves content.

Not only does it deserve content, it needs authoritative content that’s worth linking to.

As The Link Spiel: Dude, Your Site Is Boring No Links For You Link Building and Link Training Blog by Debra Mastaler says:

“You can’t afford to have a dull site or one lacking credibility if you want to attract links, build brand and drive targeted traffic. If you don’t have content to use as a hook or the site lacks certain credibility elements then you need to spend the money and have them created otherwise, no one will link to you.”

Links are the currency of the Web, and if someone links to your site, it means that endorse what you have to say.

Spend money on link-worthy content. It’s an investment.

Competition on the Web – what will it mean to you?

Aaron Wall always talks good sense, and this recent post of his struck me as particularly incisive, since I write content all day long.

How Competitive Will the Web be in 3 Years? 5 Years? : SEO says:

“As the web gets more competitive the answer to sustainability is not more content, but deeper content. In the time it takes to answer 100 Yahoo! Answer questions you could write 10 blog posts. In the time it takes to write 10 blog posts you could write 1 feature. And 5 years from now, content like the Blogger’s Guide to SEO is going to be worth far more than 100 of my average blog posts.”

Where will your site be ranked in the search engines in 2011?

Write Articles – How to Write More Articles and Write Fast

Write articles and write fast

Whatever your business, articles are a great promotional tool online. Many businesses use article marketing to attract new clients, and to maintain their relationships with current clients.

Many huge companies are using “native advertising” to overcome banner blindness. Articles are seen as editorial content, rather than advertising.

As you use article marketing, you’ll become aware that the more articles you write, the more powerful a promotional tool article marketing is – you get more clients and more sales.

So it’s important that you become skilled at writing articles, because of the boost article marketing gives your business.

Here are three tips which will help you to write more articles, and to write them faster.

1. Decide what you want your articles to promote

Before you start writing, decide what you want your article to promote. Do you want to promote a product or a service? A business? An affiliate product?

Whatever you’re promotional objective is, write the article to attract the readers who will be interested in what you’re promoting.

2. Write three to four points you’ll make in an article – this is your outline

Next, write down three to four points you want to make in the article. This is your outline. The outline will help you to stick to the point, and to write your article quickly.

Your mini-outline will also ensure that you don’t disappoint your readers: an article which fulfills the promise of the headline generates good will. If you fail to deliver, you disappoint readers, and lose sales.

After you’ve written your points, write a working headline. This headline may change later, once you’ve written your article.

3. Write articles in pairs

I often write three to four articles in one session. This is because it’s just as easy to write several articles as it is to write one, once you begin and get into an “article writing” mind state.

The ability to write several articles at once comes with practice. Start by aiming to write two articles at once. Depending on how much time you have to write, you may not complete the articles in once session. However, writing articles in batches will ensure that you write more.

So there you have three tips which will help you to produce a constant stream of articles to improve your business.

If you find writing easy, you can write for money…

Did you know that most business people struggle with their writing? It’s true. If you enjoy writing and find it easy, you can write for money, for business. In short, you can become a copywriter.

Copywriting is writing for business: promotional writing. Copywriters write material like advertisements and compared to most writers, they’re VERY highly paid.

The explosion of the influence of the Web means that copywriters are flooded with offers of work. Even new copywriters find it easy to get copywriting gigs and to build their copywriting services business.
