Think you’ve optimized your site?
It’s unlikely that you’ve done it with IBM’s effectiveness: viz “50 PR 9 site backlinks”.
Yes, IBM has the people to optimize all its sites from here to eternity, but read the informative PubCon session summary anyway — you’ll find something that you can use on your site, no matter how big or how humble.
Create an Opportunity Matrix (est searches, SE visits, share of clicks, current rank in google, share of clicks, visits, share of clicks and visits using incremental changes).

The Web is all about links — no links, no Internet.
Great link-building advice you can implement in this roundup piece from the recent PubCon:
Attendees of the Link Building session were invited to make their URLs available to the speaker panel for review of their linking structure. Byron White, president and founder of Lifetips.com, immediately took aim at popups, the scourge of Internet users and cause for immediate banning from Google’s AdSense program.
Although popups and similar nasties can have short-term benefits (hey, you might actually get another name for your email list), who cares? Your goal with any site should always be SALES, and sales come from repeat visitors. Get in your visitors’ face too much and you’ll never see them again.

It’s been a while since I checked out the FreeMind mind mapping software — it’s gone through lots of enhancements. I downloaded and installed it — and WOW! Lots of changes, and it’s FAST.
I’ve used just about every mindmapping application, and FreeMind is now without a doubt one of the best — and it’s free.
