Affiliate Marketing Without Tears

Affiliate marketing is easy, right? Just toss up a few banner ads, add a few links to an article — and there you go. Instant riches.

Sadly, not so. Affiliate marketing is hugely competitive. Yes, some affiliate marketers make millions, but they spend millions too, on their promotions.

Read this article for some great advice, 3 Tips To Improve Your Affiliate Marketing Sales. It reports:

“The internet offers everyone an opportunity to make extra money, replace their full-time income, or succeed beyond their wildest dreams — ** but it’s not an overnight miracle type of thing.

We have to learn, and try, and do, and break things — and that is exactly the process I went through as I started my journey into affiliate marketing.”

** “not an overnight miracle” — it can be. Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian became a multi-millionaire in a year.

I’ve had some questions about creating affiliate promotions this week, so here are my best tips.

My best tips for creating affiliate promotions

1. Know what you’re selling

This means: research the product you’re promoting carefully. Use it if you can. I won’t promote anything I haven’t used, but if you’re promoting Amazon products, you can’t use each and every product you get the urge to promote.

If you have no personal experience of a product, talk to people who have. Find them on Twitter, or on a forum. Nothing beats personal experience — your own experience, or someone else’s.

2. Know who’s buying

Before you promote the product, do a little research on the buyers. Again, forums are good for this, as is Twitter.

3. Make it worth your buyers’ while to buy via your link — give a bonus

Why would someone buy via your affiliate link, or directly?

You need to give them a reason to do it. Affiliate promoters offer incentives of all kinds. When a new product’s launched, they’re ready to offer buyers great incentives to buy via their link.

If you can think of a great incentive for a product you’re promoting, you’re good to go. You’ll make sales. Everyone’s looking for something more, for added value.

3. Research promotional venues

This is the biggie. Before you decide to promote something, work out where and how you’ll promote it. Pay Per Click advertising is expensive. On the other hand, if you decide to use free methods, that’s expensive too, in time spent, your own, or others’, if you hire others to help you.

Many affiliate marketers make great money. Take the above tips to heart, and you can join them.
