Can Twitter equal Traffic for you, too?

by angela.booth on June 14, 2009

Over the past couple of months, as Twitter becomes well and truly mainstream, I’ve noticed that Twitter traffic to my sites and blogs has turned from a trickle to a flood.

I’m not alone.

For example, For TechCrunch, Twitter = Traffic (A Statistical Breakdown) reports:

“Top Sources of Traffic To TechCrunch
1. Google: 32.7%
2. Direct: 22.7%
3. Twitter: 9.7%
4. Digg: 7.4%
5. Techmeme: 2.4%
6. Other: 25.1%”

If you’re not using social media yet, this may provide an incentive. I’ve noticed that my Twitter stream is filling up with marketers, who’ve either cloned themselves, or who have teams of people tweeting on their behalf, day and night.

There’s a reason for this frenetic Twitter activity: traffic, and sales.

By the way, if you’re new to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, get in touch. I can prepare a social media plan for you, so you can get a great flow of traffic too.
