Form spam: a new way to stop it

by angela.booth on May 18, 2009

Hate form spam? If you’ve got a Web site or two, form spam clutters your Inbox. It’s a nuisance, because as soon as your spam filter detects one a type, the spammers develop a new one.

Relief is on the way. A new Web-based service Form Armor now blocks Web-form spam.

Small Company Develops New Way to Stop Form Spam – Business Center – PC World reports:

“Form data is ranked as either good, bad or ugly, which means the submission contains some sort of malware or SQL injection attack. Good form data is passed on to the client, while bad and ugly data is blocked.

Form Armor has spent seven years tweaking its technology to accurately identify form spam. ‘We’ve been able to go through mounds and mounds of data to develop this algorithm that can detect what is abuse and what is legitimate,’ Reynolds said.”
