One of the easiest, fastest and cheapest ways to get traffic to a brand new Web site is to set up a blog for the site — before you put anything else on the site.

By setting up a blog, you’ll get traffic to the site FAST. When you’re ready to launch the main part of the site, your site will already be indexed, and will have a steady stream of visitors.

This completely eliminates the “Google Sandbox” effect.

I use this tactic on every site I develop for clients, and for myself too. Of course with some clients, I need to find a way around blog-blindness.

Blog-blindness
The effect I’ve called “blog-blindess” is a form of snobbishness, mixed with lack of information. I tell clients that we won’t call this section of the site a “blog”. We’ll call it “latest news from Company X”.
