A Web site which is frequently updated gets spidered more often, more pages are indexed, and therefore, it gets a higher search engine ranking — and as a result of this, gets more traffic.
Unfortunately, frequently updating a Web site costs money. Clients also tell me that getting someone to update their site when they want it updated is impossible — “I asked my Web guy to add a page three months ago, and whenever I ask him about it he tells me he’ll do it. But he doesn’t.”
The answer may be to switch your static site to a Content Management System (CMS). The huge benefit of a CMS is that anyone in your organization with a Web browser can update it — anyone at all.
