There are many ways to figure out what your competitors are doing online. One of the easiest and cheapest (it’s free) is to use the Google toolbar. Go to www.google.com, hit the More link, and you’ll find the toolbar under the Tools menu. (I’d give you the direct link, but Google customizes the link to suit the browser you’re currently using.)

Download and install the toolbar. When it’s installed, make sure that you have Page Info Menu checked on the Options menu.

You’ll now see a horizontal PageRank box, and a round “i” icon on the toolbar: these are your competitive intelligence tools.

Navigate to your competitor’s page. With the page completely loaded, you can now see their PageRank on the PR box.

Then click on the downward arrow next to to “i” page-info button and choose Backward Links. You’re shown all the links your competitor has, and who they are.

You know what to do now. :-) You know where they got their links. Go and get similar links, and more of them.
