How has your business changed?
I’m a writer, and my business has changed from writing primarily for print media to writing primarily for the Web. My business has also changed in that I’m LEARNING more now, because I have to. The challenge with the Web is that there is so much to learn, that you can lose track of precisely WHY you’re so invested in learning something.
This fascinating article, “The Future of the Future: Learning fast to stay relevant in a flat world”, provides tools that you can use right now, to enhance your learning and to stay focused. I’ve been using the checklists, and they’re brilliant –
Here is a checklist of simple questions to guide you for fast, individual learning:
To “learn before doing” at the start of your day or any activity:
What is supposed to happen today?
How will I know if I’m successful?
What knowledge do I need to get what I want done, and where can I get it?
What help do I need?
The checklists help you to discern the benefit of what you’re doing, and to think about what you’re learning and what you need to learn, as you work. The big benefit is that you’re less stressed — and because you’re less stressed, you can think more clearly, feel less tired at the end of the day, and procrastinate less.
