Selling a service? Add your bio page to your Web site

by angela.booth on June 18, 2006

Unless you’re a household name or a brand, the most important page on your Web site is your About page. This applies for any site. But if you offer services, your About page is absolutely vital. Your prospective customers want to know exactly who you are.

Your bio isn’t a CV — so don’t post your CV
When someone hires you as a consultant or to perform a service, they’re not employing you, so don’t post your CV on your site. Do create a bio.

Your bio doesn’t need to be extensive. The Web site version doesn’t need to be longer than 200 words.

If you’re stuck when writing your bio, Peggy Klaus has some excellent advice in BRAG! The Art of Tooting Your Own Horn Without Blowing It.

Of course, you can also hire me to write your bio. (grin)
