AOL bought Weblogs Inc, the blog media company founded by Jason Calacanis, for a rumored $25 to $35 million in October 2005.
At that time, the price seemed high for a company which was only in existence for two years. Nine months on however, the price is starting to make a lot of sense. (See my previous post about the coming online advertising bonanza.)
I’m seeing a real flurry of people hiring writers to work on blog networks. If people are paying writers to blog, they’re making a good ROI right out of the gate.
I’ve had offers to blog for others too. I won’t say for how much, but the best offer put a grin on my face, and not because I had any intention of accepting the offer either. I’ve started a couple of other blogs as my own little piece of blog-turf.
If you’ve been thinking about blogging, stop thinking and set up a blog. As more advertising money flows online, your blog may just become a gold mine.
