Creating a Web site with DevonThink Pro

by angela.booth on May 24, 2006

I’m writing the content for a new Web site in DevonThink Pro, and as I posted earlier this week, it pays to read the manual.

I created a new Group in DTP with five RFT pages, one page for each page of the new site, and as I worked on the Home page, I wondered why the word “software” was underlined. It turned out to be a hyperlink, and when I clicked “software” I was taken to the Software page in the Group.

Wow — it turns out that DevonThink Pro will create an entire site for you out of a Group (or out of a page). You select the Group or page, then choose Export/ As Website from the File menu. Who knew? This is AMAZING software.

I’m an 11-month Windows switcher to the Mac, and I constantly bemoan all the wasted years I spent using Windows. Yes, Windows is essential in the business world, but if you’re a creative, you need a Mac. And of course if you’re a business person, and you want to be creative at that — a Mac couldn’t hurt, and it could make your life much easier and much more fun.

If you’re drowning in data — and if you want to build a fast Web site — check out DevonThink Pro. (Disclosure: no connection with DTP, and I’m not being paid any money — it’s just BRILLIANT software.)
