Writing articles, whether short or long, is a great way to attract traffic to your Web site. The articles are indexed by the search engines, and are returned with the results of search queries. Not only do you get traffic, but you also get enhanced Page Rank as people link to your articles.

When my partner (and sister) Birgitt and I launched Digital-e years ago, I wrote articles to attract people to the site and it worked well. Everyone has discovered articles in 2006.

Here’s an excellent article on 21 ways to use one article:
1. Post on your own website2. Post on other websites you own3. Use in your ezine (and archive on your website)4. Use on your blog5. Submit to other people’s websites6. Submit to other people’s ezines
I’ve noticed however that over time, the articles get devalued by the search engines. We’ve got a
mass of articles on Digital-e, but because I promoted them extensively in 2003, we’ve lost relevance for those search terms. These days I’m much less inclined to post articles to article directories or allow others to use them, because Google penalizes duplicate content.
BTW, if you’re interested in buying a small business site, contact Birgitt, because we’re considering selling Digital-e. Make her an offer. :-)
