Creative Copywriting Frequently Asked Questions

If you've never worked with a copywriter before, you have questions.

How do I work with you?

By email, phone, VOIP or by fax, whichever method is most convenient for you. When you've briefed me, I'll research and create a quote. Your brief can be detailed, as long as one page, or as short as a couple of sentences. If it's short, I'll contact you for more information.

When you accept my quote, I'll create a plan or outline for your input. Then I deliver a draft, and final copy. For long projects, we'll set some milestones, so you know exactly what stage your project is at, and you'll be kept updated with reports, usually weekly.

Process

Do you charge by the hour?

For most projects, you'll prefer to brief me for an entire project, whatever it may be: a press campaign, a new Web site, a direct response mailing, or Web site content. This helps you to budget for the project.

For small tasks -- copyediting a mailout, revising a Web page -- I'll charge you an hourly rate that we agree on, and will estimate the number of hours before I start, with a written quote.

What background information do you need?

For marketing projects, your current marketing materials, any research or focus groups that you've done, a description of your target audience, your Web site URL, and the URLs of your primary competitors.

Do you have experience in my industry?

I've worked with clients in many industries: technology, health, business and many more. On projects in industries which are completely new to me, I'll work with a collaborating copywriter, and we'll ensure that you get exactly what you need.

Can you work to our deadline?

Yes. I'll keep you updated on progress, and will meet your deadline.
